I'm MaryLane's 3rd daughter in law. She was the most creative, resourceful, fun loving, generous and stubborn person that I've known. She was always the consummate hostess and loved having family and friends to her home. I loved her "no pressure" approach - before Willson and I were engaged, she showed me the MANY smocked baby dresses she had made for a new grandaughter. No pressure.
Very fond memories having dinner with Mary Lane and Henry—at their invitation when I was going thru a difficult time. What blessed examples they are of Christian hospitality. My prayers to the family that Christ will embrace each of you with His peace, joy, and courage. I am unable to join the celebration of her life due to a recent medical event. Fondly, Hartwell Harrison
Mary Lane was wildly imaginative. She had a sort of un-filtered creativity that I've rarely seen, and that is especially rare in women of her generation. She encouraged my love of animals and the outdoors, fueled my knowledge of cooking, and inspires me to serve others. I was so lucky to have grown up with her as a role model and grandmother.
This last week I've been reflecting on the impact Grandma had on me and those who knew her. She epitomised what it meant to live your life with integrity and passion. She spilled with creativity and made everyone feel welcome in her home and at her table. As I quickly approach motherhood, I hope to somehow emulate the vitality she radiated in raising her own kids, grandkids and students.
