Larry was a wonderful neighbor & man.  We are so very honored to have met him.  We will miss seeing him out on his lawnmower taking care of his yard and just stopping by to chat.  I used to love seeing him and Jan sitting out front having a drink enjoying the evening.  Our heartfelt condolences go to you and your family.  Sincerely, Rick, Amy & Noah Velasquez

Dad, you were a great example of the Lord our God's love: unconditional, steady, true, unwavering, unselfish.  You and Mom were the best parents!  I love you Dad!  I am so blessed to be your son!  Love, Phil

Some years ago the letters, YBIC became real.  Each of from that time on regarded each other as brother..  Although you are gone from our family some day we will meet and renew our relationship.  Until then, Brother Larry, we will be still spiritually connected.  Bye for now, Love, Brother Les

Uncle Larry, you always held a special place in our hearts and will be remembered as a kind, and loving person. We'll never forget all the times that you were there to offer support, guidance and hope when we needed it most. You had a natural charm that brought goodness and light into every situation that you encountered. Your spirit will live on along with the memories you gave us

Uncle Larry, you will be missed by all of your Bates Family and Friends.  My Dad, Jim,  thought the world of you and that feeling was shared by all of Jim's children.  I feel so blessed that we had the precious time together at the past 2 Bates Family reunions.  I wish you and Aunt Jan wonderful times together in Heaven.

My feelings between Larry and myself can be illustrated by out title for each other and that was Brother.  Brother Larry and Jan were our next door neighbors in Brownsville TX,  Our friendship began as fellow golfers and graduated into other areas.  One special event that I shared with him was I was with him when he shot his first hole- in- One
