John P. O'Brien was my only brother & was my mentor in life. He taught me how to play football & run track, he even taught me how to fix an engine on a car even though I wasn't old enough to fix a car or play sports. I loved him very much & will miss him greatly.
John was a friend and colleague of mine at the Santa Clara Assessor's Office. John was one of the kindest and most gracious people I have known. I consider myself very fortunate to have known him and Sue. I will miss him so very much.
Rest in Peace.
My deepest condolences- Patric Portera
My Friend, Phil (later in life I called him JP). I met him in the late 50s, went to HS with him, and reconnected after our HS 50 year reunion. He will always be remembered by me as a calm, generous, caring, considerate and helpful person. We had lunches together every few months, talking about old times, and about our new times. I will miss him very much! R.I.P., Phil. I mean JP.
I knew John when we worked together at the Santa Clara County Assessor's Office. I felt he was a gentle soul and appreciated him for his even temper and good nature. He was taken too soon.
Thinking of you today. I looked at the pictures in this memorial and saw a lot of good love and a good life you had. Hoping some day we can meet again and laugh like we used to do at lunches. I really don't know if this is possible, but it would be very nice if it could happen. Take care.
Happy New Year, my friend. It's not the same here without you, but you have left me many great memories that make for a better day. Thanks for that! Take care.
