This memorial website was created in the memory of our loving mother, grandmother, and friend, Georgina Joyce Rooney, who passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Santa Cruz at the age of 88.

Georgina had a powerful passion for life as well as a tremendous sense of appreciation of nature.  An example of this passion was when she traveled to Africa on safari on her own when she was in her seventies.  Her respect and appreciation for the earth strongly influenced her family and friends.

Georgina was an emotionally supportive person whose tremendous love was deeply felt.  She was consistently happy and joyful with a kind intelligence that made her fun to be around.  She not only was elegant, she was beautiful inside and out.

Born in Calgary, Canada, to George Lunn and Grace Law, Georgina grew up with one sister, Francis “Betty”.  She married Clare Rooney in 1949, with whom she had three children.  She married Charles Maxfield in 1974.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Juanita Rooney; daughter and son-in-law Penny and David Richer, grandsons Julian and Ryan Richer; daughter Patricia Brady, grandsons Cameron and Addison Brady, nephew Bruce Mortimer and his family, and niece Ann Fields and her family.

A memorial service will be held at 2435 Felt St, Santa Cruz on Saturday, March 12 at 1:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
