Ellie maintained close relationships with a wide variety of former coworkers who all greatly esteemed her. A trip to Nashville in 2013 with "News Chicks" Judy Wakefield and Sherry Wood (from her Eagle-Tribune days) was highlighted by the trio wearing cowboy hats to the Grand Ole Opry.

A Memorial Service will be held in the First Congregational Church, 21 Church Street, Winchester, on Saturday, September 21st, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no Calling Hours. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Tufts School of Medicine.
