Dennis was truly one of a kind. No matter the situation or kind of day he was having, he was always smiling and laughing. He loved to play his music loud from his office. You could always find him at Starbuck's on Coleman in the mornings just enjoying the start of his day. He wasn't a flashy kind of guy - loved his VW Convertible Beetle, bagpipes and surfing - indeed. He will BE MISSED!
Dennis was funniest person in the firm and a very deep resource as a trial lawyer. He will be missed and we are so sorry to see him go so young. Rest in Peace. Regards, David, Tracey, Lauren, Brendan and Katherine McLaughlin
Dennis always had something nice to say no matter the circumstances. I will always remember his smile. I enjoyed hearing him playing the bagpipes at the Ropers office when it was in Redwood City. The parking garage echoed the sounds...it was so soothing. My condolences and sympathies to his family. May he Rest in Peace and may the Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him. Blessings, Laura
Dennis was always so kind, funny and engaging. I am so saddened to hear he has left us. I am honored to have been his law partner for so many years. I am so sorry Jed and I will not be able to attend his funeral service. We are on the east coast and won't be back in time. Our hearts go out to Gina and the rest of his family.
Dennis was a amazing teammate, a fellow prankster and one of the good guys in life. Above all he was a champion of the truth and the rule of law. I was physically assaulted on the rugby pitch in a game and Dennis witnessed it while watching. He was my advocate for what he believed was right and just and did everything in his power to make it right. He set an example for the rest of us.RIP
Dennis will never be forgotten. He was one of the smartest, nicest, funniest, and most caring people I knew. He was always so upbeat no matter the circumstances, and such a great mentor with the upmost integrity. He was someone that openly shared his wealth of knowledge and could talk to anyone about anything. My prayers go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
When you were talking with Dennis you were the most important person in the room. Dennis had a tremendous sense of humor and a sense of humanity that was a pleasure to see and feel. A great trial lawyer and a good, good man. Gone to soon. RIP Wardo.
So shocked and saddened to learn of Dennis' passing. I so enjoyed every conversation that I ever had with him. He was one of maybe a half-dozen people I knew who, if I bumped into him outside of court, we would settle in for an enjoyable 20-minute chat. Such a fine gentleman and outstanding lawyer. We have lost a truly good person. My condolences to the family. ~Tim Schmal
I haven’t seen him in a while, but what a class act and funny.

Dennis was the epitome of an honorable man. Kind hearted, full of joy, and trustworthy. I loved seeing him play the pipes in our neighborhood and tootle by in his VW.
The world is smaller without him in it.
My heart is with you Gina and family.
My husband and I send our deep condolences to Dennis's family. We were friends in college and loved seeing him at our reunions here in Santa Barbara. Indeed he will be deeply missed by Many.

Remembering him, his generous smile, gregarious laugh, and big bear hugs, the twinkle in his eyes, robust sense of humor, we will forever remember our dear friend Dennis. A one in a million, a man of integrity who you could always count on for comfort and support. We'll catch that surf together on the other side my friend...
