Standing next to Dave,
I could feel
* His joi-de-vivre: his love of life and everyone in it.
* his enthusiasm
* his optimism
* his compassion
* his laughter
* his love of his family
* his support of his friends
* his availability to help out everyone, not just people he knew, and many people he didn't know that he was even helping.
He would brighten my day just hearing his always cheerful voice.
Quick with a friendly laugh and comfortable laughing.
He would encourage the best of me.
He would make me courageous beyond my comfort zone.
* He was the "frosting on the cake" to encourage me to be a Eucharistic Minister at St. Perpetua Church, which opened a window to his Great joy of sharing the love of God with others.
I secretly hoped to get Dave on the phone, when I called their house, just to hear his voice.
Just standing next to Dave,
I felt like I was standing next to a loving presence.
Now Dave stands by the loving presence of God.
