Carla was remarkable in her attention to and understanding of each of her students.  When I watched her teach (which I, a professor of  many years experience did, to improve my own teaching) I was amazed by her grasp of each of her students and empathy for them.

Oh, Carla. We miss you so much. Thank you for being such a fine friend to our whole family for over 50 years. You always were there for us and you’ll live on through the Shabbat candle sticks we light in your honor/memory every Friday night. You bought us those for my wedding and they go to good use.
