Betty Joan van Keulen

Born in Oak Forest, Illinois, March 11, 1931 died at 88 years old on July 20, 2019 in Bermuda Dunes.

Betty is survived by her husband of 64 years, John H. van Keulen, sons Steve van Keulen and Mark van Keulen, both from Morgan Hill, Ca, daughter Corey Allan of Bermuda Dunes and grandchildren Annika and Neil van Keulen.

Betty was a kind, loving and gentle person who made friends easily because of her loving spirit and interest in others.  Her character, mixed with intelligence and grace, were the ingredients for the charisma that she was blessed with. She was a dynamo, always doing something, usually for someone else.  She had a quick wit and an infectious laugh.

In high school she excelled academically, being a member of The National Honor Society and excelled in athletics. She was also voted sophomore Queen of the Military Ball. Betty was also an entrepreneur and businesswoman and started a successful medical transcription business career. Many of the staff whom she chose and trained made a lifetime career from the experience of working for Betty and they still kept in contact with her years after her retirement. Betty had a myriad of lifelong friends. She was a great cook, baker, bridge player, golfer and crosswords enthusiast. She was also a voracious reader.

Travel took John and Betty to Europe, South America, Bermuda, The Virgin Islands and Maui. Her traveling highlight was a high seas adventure sailing around the Grenadines, a trek through the jungle, and a dugout canoe adventure down the Canaima River in Venezuela.

When asked what she would like to be remembered for, she remarked "my love for my family and friends".

Betty will always be remembered and will forever be in our hearts.
