This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Anthony Charles Taravella, 88, born on December 3rd, 1927 and passed away on July 26th, 2016. We will remember him forever.
From the Obituary:
Born in Pueblo, CO, Tony's family moved to San Jose, CA in the early 1930's. He was a much loved teacher at Aptos High School over 25 yrs, and spent another decade as a substitute teacher for other schools in the area until his retirement.
Tony was a San Jose State graduate, and also studied under the Jesuits at Santa Clara University. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran.
His most proud achievement, through his research, he is responsible for proving that San Jose was the birthplace of modern radio broadcasting.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer & Chris Byrd, their children Rachel & Ryan, nieces & nephews, Debbie Rogers, Kathy Cook, Scott Hoff, Vicky Brooks, Michael Taravella, Patricia Van Cleave, Kenneth Taravella, and Robert Taravella. A private family memorial will be held Sept. 24, 2016
We will miss you Uncle Tony! I'm going to miss your stories and talks we had on our family history but I am happy that I was able to give you what you always wanted to know. I wish you were still here but I know you are now in a better place. Say Hello to Mom, Grandma & Grandpa & Uncle Steve and tell them all that I love them!
I'm sorry to hear Tony passed. I only got to speak to him a couple of times by phone and wanted to see him, but time and distance were always in the way. I'm glad he didn't suffer long, and wish his family all my love and care. My mother had fond memories of her 1st cousin and I only saw him once, I think, almost 60 years ago. He was a great guy and soooo good looking. Glad he is family.
