My mom, Laverne Sutton, worked as a a bookkeeper at Burdicks after being newly married to my Dad, a police Officer  in Santa Cruz  she worked a lot of overtime without pay and one magical day we had a moving truck deliver an upright piano to our home  we never had so much excitement before  it was an upright Harmon 1894 so kind of the Burdicks and I still have the piano

I was blessed to have Mary as my Godmother. I have wonderful memories of the get-togethers we would have with the Burdicks and many other families in Santa Cruz. Mary and Hal were wonderful Godparents. Mary had a strong faith in God and she was an excellent example of the joy that you receive from having a close relationship with God. She was kind and loving  and brought happiness to all.
