To Michael, Stanley, and your families,
Marilyn was more than my cousin, she was my godmother and a true presence in my life and in our family. When I think of my father’s side, I think of Marilyn and Aunt Irene. That connection, that warmth, that spirit, that was them.
Marilyn was a good Catholic woman, and I take comfort in believing she is now at peace, embraced in God’s love. However each of us understands heaven, I know she’s there with a full heart, the same way she lived her life here.
She was one of a kind. We all have our stories, some funny, some surprising, some that just make you shake your head and smile. She had a boldness about her, a way of doing things that was completely her own. But behind all of that was a heart that was incredibly kind and giving.
And that’s what stays.
Michael and Stanley, you and your families carry that forward now. Not in a heavy way, but in the small things. One day you’ll say something, or do something, and it will hit you that was Mom. And you will laugh. Your kids, your grandkids, they will do the same. That is how she stays with you. That is how she lives on.
I will miss my godmother. She was special, truly.
With love and sympathy,Tom
To All the Sheeran Family, So sorry for the loss of your beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and more to many people. In my case "Auntie Marilyn" was forever a thoughtful presence who never missed an occasion, either happy or difficult, to chime in with a caring show of support and encouragement. I will miss her, and feel so grateful to have known her.
