Margaret Louise Bell Waiters was never an ordinary person. She was born on November 20, 1933 until she began her retirement years and the government said that her birthday was actually November 11, 1933.
Margaret was the oldest girl of 5 siblings and was always quick to let people know that she was in charge! She was educated in the Bibb County School system and after graduating Fort Valley State College with a Bachelor’s degree, she attended the University of Georgia where she completed the requirements for a Master’s in Education. She went on to teach elementary grades in the Bibb County Schools system for 45 plus years. Even after her official retirement, Margaret continued teaching. She was a substitute teacher and even went back into the classroom at a couple of private schools. Even in her last days, she was still questioning and teaching the children and grandchildren of the other patients’ visitors at the rehab facility where she was recovering from the effects of two strokes.
While Margaret was dedicated to education, she was just as dedicated, if not even more so, to her family. She was always there for support, a helping hand and advice, even if you didn’t want it!
Margaret Waiters was a supportive member of Bethel CME Church and of Covenant Life Cathedral. She enjoyed church, gospel music and singing. She was also a member of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon Waiters and her youngest daughter, Monique Watson. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl W. Stephens, sister Shirley Walker, brother Leon Bell (Bridgette), sister-in-law Willie Mae Bell, four grandchildren, Wesley Walker, Courtney Walker, Ashley Lawrence and Sheila Stephens, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Excellence was always her standard and she demanded excellence from anyone that came in contact or interacted with her. She set the bar high and will be greatly missed.
A Limb Has Fallen
(Author Unknown)
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says,
“Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin
Until the day comes when we’re together again.”
We were able to have a beautiful service to celebrate the life, style and grace of my grandmother... she will be forever missed. We as a family are all grieving HOWEVER if you were lucky to know Mrs. Waiters you also know we are having a few good laughs as well. Thank you to everyone who came to show their love and support, called, messaged and prayers. We greatly appreciate your outpouring of love through it all.
I smile a little brighter knowing my favorite couple is back together again! The Waiters, my Nana & Fuzz

I have lost my first best friend, hell for a couple of years she was my only friend lol... She was tough and sometimes I thought she wanted me to be miserable but it was totally opposite, little did I know she was teaching me how to maneuver through the world. This amazing woman taught me everything from God and faith, making sure my sister and I knew how to cook, she made sure we knew how to play the piano because “everyone should play an instrument” according to her. She introduced me to integrity, and taught us how to speak up, be heard and polite all at the same time. Seeing her with my grandfather showed me a love that I hope to one day share.
This hurts to my core and may take a while to work through, but I understand I was lucky to have such a strong woman in my corner. So I thank God for such a wonderful grandmother. And every day I’ll strive to make her proud and leave a mark on this world as she did for us. I love you Nana.

I have a family full of bishops, elders, pastors, preachers, saints, ushers, deacons and choir members BUT it’s not a musician that can stand to Margaret Waiters! I listened to her beat that piano/organ so much that I didn’t wanna play and scream in the trenches at William Chapel/Fulton/Bethel and Lil Rogers out in the country! Man..: we would be in church 24/6! We listened to gospel 24/7 ... in the car, kitchen, garage, and wherever else! She was a trip but I PROMISE she loved the LORD and is busy bossing them folks around upstairs! I will never forget!! Authentic is the best word to describe her! A GOAT in her own right!! #missingher #myGOAT

Phenomenal Woman
BY MAYA ANGELOU
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
’Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Indeed she was.... she lives phenomenally in me! RIP Auntie until we meet again. ~Quanza
With a extremely heavy heart, I lost my Auntie Margaret today! OMG!!!!!! Many of u may know her as Mrs. Watson and others as Mrs. Waiters but to me.... she was my Auntie Margaret! She took care of me when everyone else wouldn’t! She raised me as her own... gave me the world! There was nothing I ever asked for or wanted that wasn’t given with love and discipline! With each speech or academic thrill she entered me in....she forbid me to perform anything less than my best! I played flute like her late Daughter Monique but I had to be good at it too. Always pushed for me to be better than my own expectation! Always pushed me to be the best in all things! Even challenged me to be a good mother! Always been there for me no matter what!!
One of the greatest educators, mentor, mother, auntie, grandmother, and person I will ever meet! She was just great overall!
I honestly thought she would live forever! Almost like she was supernatural and invincible. My son talked about her just today coming to his upcoming graduation. It’s like unreal... I love you Auntie! You are and will always be my SHERO! #outofgas #hurt
