Dear Jane, Molly and Ella - I am so very, very sorry for your loss. You have lost a towering figure in so many ways and yet a man of great humility. He was my professor for 4 years many years ago and he had an enormous impact on my entire college academic experience and on what I have expected of myself as an adult “thinker” throughout my life. Terry’s excitement about ideas was profound.
I went to high school in New Orleans. I remember him most for his joie de vivre and how deeply he absorbed everything. We reconnected at a reunion in 2005 or six where he was still full of the same enthusiasm and fun. He spoke of his wife and daughters whom he called his “warrior princesses“ with such admiration and love. We communicated by email for a long time sporadically after that and he shared his trials and tribulations. But towards the end I did not know how ill and I did not know about his demise unfortunate, untimely demise.
