This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Leo Pondelick, 89, born on October 6th, 1926 and passed away on February 22nd, 2016. We will remember him forever.
In loving memory - Leo was a great friend and mentor. I played with Leo for many years in Decatur. My dad and Leo were the same age and both from the Chicago area - dad played clarinet. When Leo came to my daughter's graduation party and met my dad, it turned out they remembered each other and had many connections from their youth. No wonder Leo and I hit it off so well.
When I first met him, my then finance thought it was so cool that I could play viola and suggested duets. Little did I know Leo was a 'violinist' and I moved my fingers. He was so patient and encouraged me to play. I remember his playing at Gramma's funeral party. And of course, all his patient, fun times with my girls and grandchildren. How wonderful to have known gentle Leo!
When you leave a tribute, please introduce yourself. People from many different facets of his life may be posting.
Thank you to all of you!

Leo was my high school orchestra conductor at York High school. We had many good times and I regarded him as a friend as well as a teacher. He'd call us "pesants" and we wrote on blackboard "Leo is an ogre" so he corrected our spelling. Thought of him again today and sad to hear of his passing. Jon Knudson York Hi class of 1960.
