I became acquainted with John back in the 70's, while I was working in produce for JB Gottstein company.  Our Director of Produce, Wally Randazzo, had great respect for John - though they worked for competing companies, they both shared that special Alaskan attitude of "we are all here to help each other out whenever necessary."  So sorry for your loss, which is shared by many.
