I've known Jay my entire life. We grew up together. We shared childhood. Jay was an amazing guy. His ability to understand the complexity of higher mathematics , physics , chemistry , mechanics , and so many other sciences was truly astonishing. He was a friend, he was a mentor, he was a brother. I will miss him every day for the rest of my life. Thank you Jay , and rest in peace.
I met Jay via Zoom, at the Monday night old-time sessions. His gentle, positive, warm and welcoming leadership helped me survive pandemic isolation in the East Bay. What disappointment and shock to be told at the newly-live SCVFA jam that he was ill; then later that we had lost him. Gone before I could even play with him in person. I made new friends at the SCVFA sessions – my presence at which was mostly due to Jay’s Zoom leadership. Just a tiny example of the multitudinous impacts that one person can make on another’s life, even someone they never met. My deepest condolences to Jay’s family for their loss of this gentle and caring man.
