So many thanks to Gary for all he has done in his career to make a difference in the lives of so many. Gary was a fun, supportive and wise leader and I appreciate everything he taught me. I am also glad I got to know him more through his family. He is missed, but still in our hearts forever.
I was blessed having known Gary through my first job at Hope, then 1981 Kodiak Special Olympics State meet and throughout my career while working with Developmental Disabled at ASSETD and long term spent with the ARC. I had a high regard for Gary as he treated everyone with respect dignity, and above all was willing to listen to individuals needs. He certainly lifted the community
My wife and I worked with Gary at Bartlett High School. Dorothy had more contact with Gary than I did. I knew Gary as an extremely dedicated Special Ed. teacher. One that was loved by his students and was a genuinely nice person. He is genuinely missed and I think the angels in heaven have welcomed him and are loving him as we did. Lee and Dorothy Highsmith
