This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Dr. Thomas "T.L." Harlow, 89, born on August 1st, 1929 and passed away on March 9th, 2019. We will remember him forever.
He was a kind hearted man who loved his family, friends, and dogs.
He also loved exploring the world. He was stationed in Japan and Korea but traveled around the world north, south, then east, west. He even left Richmond in his 80’s to go to Hawaii for 24 hours.
T.L. was a great friend & hunting & tennis partner for 53 years. My best memories were when we had 4 quail in my car & we went into a store for lunch. When we came out my dog had eaten our quail and when we played tennis and the ball was hit over the 12 foot fence he would climb over it to retrieve the ball. I will miss him. Robert Lerner
TL was an amazing man and will always be remembered by the Trinidad Family. He treated us like family. He was such a generous man with us. He will be missed. Ino Trinidad.
My Uncle T.L. made the best popcorn. He made me dinner when I was in college at UofR one night, and while the quail was delicious I’ll never forget his technique for making popcorn. After popping it on the stove he dumped it all in a brown paper bag from the grocery store, threw in some salt and shook it up. The leftover oil was absorbed by the bag while the salt perfectly coated the corn.
TL was a faithful & generous friend to me & RVA Prostate cancer Support Support group at Ridge Baptist Church near Regency Mall -3rd Thursdays @7pm. He would ask good questions. I tried to help him negotiate his cancer- his Doctor was no help. But I think we finally the last few years got him on a path that helped. I will miss him and his green tomatoes and okra. God's Speed my Friend.
I idolized T.L. when I was young. He taught me how to swim, dive, fish, ride a bike, ride horses, do flips on the trampoline, lay tongue & groove flooring & roller skate. My cousin, Dawn, & I would both get on his back & go flying down the hills of the Country Club next to U of R on a sled when it snowed. He made delicious sea foam candy & homemade ice cream & yes, the best popcorn! RIP!
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Harlow at a very important time in my life. His words of wisdom, time and effort will forever be cherished. From the BLAND family, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
My uncle T.L. was loved by his family. May he rest in peace.
Mr. Harlow was an influential figure during some developmental years of my life. He took me along with Michael on countless trips to the river, mountains, or country property to fish, camp, or otherwise be outside. 20 years later my passion for the outdoors continues to grow and I hope to do the same with my sons.
Today I realized that I haven’t seen TL in quite some time & my search sadly brought me here. He used to visit me weekly at Home Depot. He was always busy & working on a project. He once brought me fresh tomatoes just for helping him. He used to shout my name, “David!” from a 100’ away. There was no mistake about who it was. I didn’t know him very long but I’ll never forget him. God bless
