Barb and family,
So sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. What a great obituary that was written about your husband and father. It is sad that we all learn something new about the people that pass away. Enjoy the memories that will be flooding in as I remember parties at the Hanson’s home throughout the boys school days. Sending our thoughts and prayers!
I was lucky enough to have meet Dave and Barbara when I was about 12 years old. As a troubled child they both volunteered their time to take me out of a group home or the children's shelter I was living in at the time. They took me to their home and would spend quality time with me over school breaks so I would not be alone. During these stays I would spend time hanging out with Dave in the garage watching him work on various mechanical projects. Sometimes they would take me to the beach and I would listen to the Beach Boys in the car on the way. Dave tried to teach me how to surf and I even stood up a time or two. The best and most memorable thing I remember about Dave was when he took me flying. He even let me talk to the tower and request taxie. Dave made me feel very special. I will never forget that. My life has been changed by the unconditional love Dave and Barbara have both shown me. This world has lost someone truly special. I was lucky enough to have known Dave.
I first met Dave in high school, Dave left a huge impression on me from the moment we met. Dave was filled with a zest for life and making his own rules. He had an intense personableness in being a friend that has remained with me over the years despite the distance of years.
Barb's wonderful obit really captured the essence of Dave and I feel blessed with luck to have known him.
