In Loving Memory

Bryan Montague

Nov. 28, 1957 - Oct. 23, 2020

Bryan Leslie Montague, 62, of Benicia, CA passed away 1 year ago, Friday, October 23rd, 2020 at home with loving family by his side. He was born November 28th, 1957 to Della Bernice Butler and Raymond Lucas Montague in Payson, UT. Bryan developed a lifetime appreciation of travel and diverse cultures and cuisines through his proselytizing mission as a Missionary representing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Philippine islands and Bryan’s honorable service as Lieutenant in the United States Navy. He was dedicated to his 27 years of work for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and found great satisfaction in striving to help other veterans. He is survived by his dearly loved daughter Kathryn (Corryn) Cue, whose irrepressible laughter and spirit always brought out the best in Bryan. Their unique ability to communicate was a joy to watch. His progeny will be continued in his cherished grandson Liam. He is also survived by his devoted wife Judy Stapleton, whose love and strength brought richness to his last 16 years, along with her seven children and 12 grandchildren; siblings Rick (Lisa), Brent (Shauna), Karen (Lincoln), and Kelly (Shelley), many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.. His faithful shadow, Lucy Dog, who could be found perched contentedly on his shoulder or enjoying a walk in the California sunshine still searches and waits for him in the office. Bryan was preceded in death by his first wife Julie Ann Edgeman and daughter Jennifer Ann Gresham. To those close to him, Bryan offered a thoughtful listening ear. And despite his enthusiasm for the latest technologies, he managed to maintain his perspective and insistence that “simplest is best”. In honor of his memory please consider a donation to the Okizu Foundation, a cause dear to his heart and one that closely matches Bryan’s essence, in supporting a world where it is possible to find healing and growth even beyond affliction and heartache.

A Memorial Service to honor Bryan’s life will be held this Saturday Octover 23, 2021, 2:00 pm, at the Benicia Chapel, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1125 Southampton Road in Benicia CA.

INTERNMENT will be Friday October 22, 2021, 11:30 am with Military honors at the National Veterans Cemetery, Midway Road, Dixon CA.
