I met Bruce a few months before I retired in 1999 and appreciated his enthusiasm for camping and hiking especially in the desert. Almost immediately we began on an almost 20 year ritual of twice-a-year camping trips exploring deserts in California, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada and Utah. Our mutual love of the outdoors led to endless hours of enjoyment over an open campfire. Never forgotten.
Neither Bruce nor I could have known at the time, the sale of a sports car would mark the beginning of a rewarding friendship spanning five decades. Lots of shared experiences and stories, and many fond memories of the guy who left too soon. While his departure leaves an unfillable hole, the overriding sentiment is one of gratitude for the time he shared with us. Fare well old friend.
Bruce was Handsome, unique, caring, wickedly humorous, intelligent, clever, kind, a gentleman
and also a gentle man. Bruce was a very good friend. I read "Death is nothing at all" by Holland
for his memorial. He would have approved.
