He was born on January 9, 1947 to Marie Pinkham (nee De Crenza) and Arthur Andrew Pinkham. He graduated from Kingston High School and Ulster County Community College.
Since he was a child, he was always involved with local sports whether it was little league, high school basketball, senior softball, or golf. He regaled his family with tales of playing basketball in Madison Square Garden. A life long lover of baseball, he played against the 1969 Mets in Port St. Lucie, Florida in 1990. His team didn’t beat the Mets, but had fun trying. He bowled in his younger years and returned to the game in his late 50s complaining about the new oil patterns and weighted bowling balls. Despite these new challenges, he achieved a high score of 298 in 2009 and won first place for his class in the Kingston Bowling Association’s 7th Annual Senior Tournament. Despite his health issues, he was one of the oldest softball players in the Saugerties Athletic Association’s men’s league. In his softball heyday he was known for hitting homeruns and throwing his famous knuckleball. He was an avid golfer who traveled to the Carolinas, Florida, and Arizona to get in 18 holes. Even in his 70s, he rode his bike all around Saugerties. He never sat still.
As a firefighter, Drew was known as the practical prankster who drove the other firefighters nuts with his antics. Always one to up the ante, he never let an opportunity to hit a nerve go. Drew also owned and operated several small businesses in Ulster Country including Mica Satellite where he installed satellite dishes that were taller than he was.
A devoted husband and father, he was proud that he was able to provide his family with more than he had growing up. He taught his children to work hard, to excel despite adversity, and to learn from life’s difficult lessons.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Pinkham, his two children, Tara Pinkham and Josh Pinkham, his sister, Truly Mooney, his brother, Arthur Pinkham, his son-in-law, Le Qi, and grandpuppy, Diego.
Mr. Pinkham, What I remember most about you is that you are a proud dad. And you have a lot to be proud of in Tara and Josh. Rest In Peace, Mr. Pinkham. -Jennie John
We had the honor of meeting Mr Pinkham during Tara and Le’s wedding in New PaItz. We immediately noted that Mr Pinkham was a loving father and kind soul. That evening we also learned that he was a fantastic dancer! May we all remember his kindness and unique ways. In sympathy, Sandra Vines and Gregory Aston
